Yosemite Gold Cup Endurance Ride

The Yosemite Gold Cup Ride traverses the Stanislaus National Forest and various sections of private property in and around Groveland and Buck Meadows, CA utilizing trails and forest service roads. Depending on the time of year, beautiful sweeping vistas with parts of Yosemite in the background, or the Tuolumne River Canyon can be enjoyed from the back of a horse.

This area of California has a rich history with many historical landmarks. Buck Meadows was once named Hamilton's Station named after Alva Hamilton, who with his wife, ran the stage stop originally located at the north side of Hamilton Station Loop, at the dead end of Buck Meadows Road.

The stage stop opened for business when the Big Oak Flat turnpike was pushed through toward Yosemite Valley in the early 1870's. Across the street from Hamilton's Station eventually became the site of the original Buck Meadows Lodge built for the men working on the Hetch Hetchy Dam project in the 1920's.
